A few days ago, his friend received a call from someone pretending to be his father’s friend, claiming to return money he supposedly borrowed from him. The scammer said he owed 5,000 rupees, but the credit message sent to the friend showed 50,000 rupees instead. The fraudster tried to explain that the extra zero was a mistake and urged the friend to return the additional 45,000 rupees, even inventing a story about his wife being in the hospital.

Luckily, the actor’s friend was able to cross-check the bank statement, preventing any loss. Vijay Deverakonda advises fans to always verify details with their bank statement and reminds them that UPI is secure if used correctly. If someone tries to scam you, he suggests saying, “Main moorkh nahi hoon” (I’m not a fool).

Vijay also highlighted that UPI fraud can take several forms, including phishing, OTP or PIN scams, fraud through screen mirroring apps, impersonation, misleading UPI handles, and reverse debit fraud. To avoid falling victim, he urges people not to share their PIN or OTP, avoid downloading untrusted apps, always verify transactions with their bank, and report any unauthorized charges immediately.
