Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj have collaborated on the action-packed film Coolie. Lokesh has clarified that Coolie is not a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and stands as an independent film. So far, 70% of the shooting has been completed, with a fresh schedule set to kick off in the second week of January.
Initially, the team planned to release Coolie on May 1, to coincide with International Workers’ Day. However, with Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro now set for that date and additional time needed for post-production, Coolie is now targeting August 14 as its release date.
If this plan materializes, Coolie will benefit from the Independence Day holiday. While no official announcement has been made by Sun Pictures yet, the buzz around the new release date continues to grow. The movie features a stellar cast, including Akkineni Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir, with Bollywood icon Aamir Khan expected in a cameo role. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh.
