Suriya’s upcoming film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and co-starring Pooja Hegde, is scheduled for release on May 1. With a blend of action and romance, the film has generated high expectations among fans. Following Retro, Suriya will be seen in a film helmed by RJ Balaji.
In addition to these projects, the National Award-winning actor is also set to headline Vaadivaasal, a much-anticipated film directed by Vetrimaaran. Although the project was expected to begin filming some time ago, it has faced several delays. Vetrimaaran has dedicated a significant amount of time to pre-production, particularly in the development of animatronics for the film.
According to producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, the team is now aiming for a Summer 2026 theatrical release, targeting either May or June of that year. Production is slated to begin this year, with Suriya having already allotted dates for the shoot. Music composer GV Prakash Kumar has kicked off the musical work, and one song has already been recorded.
Set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu’s iconic traditional sport, Jallikattu, Vaadivaasal is shaping up to be a unique and culturally rich cinematic experience.
